Air Force

Recruits in the Air Force Delayed Entry Program (DEP), also known as “Deppers,” take the Oath of Enlistment at Sam Boyd Stadium at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

When a recruit takes the Oath of Enlistment, he or she enters the DEP and awaits his or her date to enter Basic Training, which can be up to a year away. Much of the timing depends on when the recruit’s chosen job is available. The DEP is often an option for high school seniors who know they want to join the Military, but they need to earn their high school diplomas first. While in the DEP, recruits meet regularly with recruiters to help prepare for Basic Training.
