Department of Defense

Sailors from the U.S. Navy Band Northeast march through the streets of Charlestown, Mass., during the Bunker Hill Day parade. This parade commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, which took place on June 17, 1775.

The Navy Band offers performance opportunities covering a range of musical styles. Groups within the Navy Band include the following:

  • Concert Band
  • Ceremonial Band
  • “Sea Chanters” Chorus
  • “Commodores” Jazz Ensemble
  • “Country Current” Country-Bluegrass Band
  • “Cruisers” Contemporary Music Band

After passing auditioning and meeting the Navy’s requirements, applicants enlist in the Navy and go through Basic Training. Once they are in the Navy, members of the band will work as stage crew, organize tours and, of course, perform.
