Department of Defense

Servicemembers can save lots of money by shopping at the Base Exchange or Commissary. Both are on-base stores that sell goods to servicemembers at close to cost. Merchandise is generally marked up just 5 percent to cover facility upkeep and labor. Exchanges and commissaries sell everything a civilian department or grocery store does: clothing, food, appliances, cosmetics and toiletries, etc. The discounts can really add up, especially for people with families.
