Marine Corps recruits at Parris Island, S.C., practice marksmanship during Recruit Training. The training is comprised of three phases: Basic Learning, Rifle Training and Field Training. As part of Rifle Training, recruits fire on the known-distance course with targets at ranges of 200, 300 and 500 yards to prepare for rifle qualification.
