At the Auto Hobby Shop - Transcript

James L. Elmer: Yeah, it's a do-it-yourself shop. This is the place to come if you want to learn how to work on your vehicle. We will take you and show you, as we're doing here, how to do anything you want. It's one of the better perks, actually, that the Air Force offers. It's very reasonable to come here and work. What you do is you rent a stall, or you rent a lift, and that includes all the tools and rags. We can show you how to do brake jobs, water pumps, engine overhauls, transmission replacements, axles. The whole nine yards.

Airman 1st Class Alejandra Zorko: I'm Airman 1st Class Alejandra Zorko, and I'm fixing my engine. My car broke down, and then I had to replace the head gasket and water pump, and now I'm putting back the valves in the engine. I got the head resurfaced, and now it's time to put it back together and put it back in. I actually didn't know how to do this. Jim has taught me everything that I know.

James L. Elmer: They save a ton of money, and they learn a new skill, make new friends and have a good time doing it.
