The Military Services have their own police forces and fire departments. These enlisted specialists investigate crimes committed on military property or which involve military personnel, and they protect lives and property on base from fire, theft and other emergencies. Military police and firefighters do many of the same things as civilian officers and firefighters: control traffic, prevent crime, put out fires and respond to emergencies. While this can make for an exciting day, equal importance is placed on the prevention of incidents that require these personnel to leap into action. Prevention includes briefing personnel about how to keep such incidents from happening.
