Combat Operations Careers

Military combat operations require careful planning and coordination of combat resources. Combat Operations officers provide battle management while directing infantry and weapons crew members. These officers are called upon to lead forces in offensive raids, demolitions, intelligence gathering and search and rescue missions. An ability to manage and inspire people is essential in this field, where fast decision making can change the course of an entire conflict.

Possible Responsibilities

• Gather and evaluate intelligence on enemy strength and position
• Develop offensive and defensive battle plans
• Direct and plan combat operations
• Direct the movement of resources within combat zone
• Coordinate missile and artillery strikes
• Direct fire control operations and firing procedures
• Lead Special Forces teams in missions
• Train personnel in parachute, scuba and other special mission techniques
