I've got the unique job of being a liaison from the navy to Hollywood and the entertainment industry. So basically we work with Hollywood studios to help them make their movies as accurately as possible
This is a pilot for a new TV show, the Navy's decided to support it. That includes us being able to provide ships, planes whatever they need that we that decide we can provide
I'm on the set to help the production and advise them on accuracy of whats going on in the action. If a sailor is behaving in a way or saying something in a way that really isn't exactly the way that they would act. So Hollywood is actually very interested in getting our support
The navy will work with Hollywood. We can't really stop because our primary concern is really prosecuting war as operational and sometimes it's a balancing act.
Working in Hollywood sometimes gives you a skewed sense of reality. Being in the military grounds me and gives me a sense that what I am doing is contributing to a cause greater than myself and that is important to me.
