Staff Sgt. William Alston: I went down to the recruiting station. I originally intended to join the Reserves. And when I went down there, me and the career counselor talked about things, and we decided that the best thing for me to do was probably to join Active Duty. I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. It’s been a life-changing experience, so I’m glad I did enlist in the Army.
Sgt. April Cashdollar: It’s great to know that I trained these Soldiers, and now they’re my peers. And I’m working with them, and they’re now helping to do the same thing I was for them.
Sgt. Mildred Rodriquez: My father said I couldn’t do it. So I wanted to prove to him that I could. And I did.
Lt. Duval Tyson: One thing I love is putting on the uniform. It feels like you’re superman sometimes when you put it on. That’s how I feel at least. As a kid, I used to see my uncles in their uniforms. And I always wanted to be part of it. When the opportunity arose when I was around 17, I decided I wanted to join.
Staff Sgt. William Alston: To serve my country is an unbelievable feeling. To walk around in that uniform every day, and know that the United States has the things that they have, and the freedoms that they have because of what young men and women like me have chosen to do. So it’s an unbelievable feeling.
