Marines assigned to Fox Company, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit — nicknamed the Blackhearts — recently participated in well deck operations training aboard the USS New Orleans.

The Marines conducted the training at night with sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship in the Philippine Sea.

The Marine expeditionary unit is operating aboard the ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group, working to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
