Pharmacy technicians usually work in hospitals and clinics on land or aboard ships. They may also work in field hospitals.

Pharmacy technicians perform all functions related to preparing, controlling, and dispensing pharmaceutical products. They verify prescription orders for dosage and provide instructions to patients regarding medication and possible side effects. They perform administrative functions, safeguard and account for inventories, and submit required reports. They maintain pharmacy system databases and pharmacy reference files.
All enlisted service members complete basic military training which includes time spent in a classroom and in the field and covers tactical and survival skills physical training military life and customs and weapons training. Pharmacy technicians in the Military will gain skills through classroom study including practice in pharmaceutical tasks and on-the-job experience. Job-specific training content may include:
