“The impact I’m having is getting larger and larger in scale. Every Soldier, when they come to an installation, will get a brief about bone marrow donation, get a chance to register. …[Someday] people will not have to wonder if they’re going to find their donor. They’re going to find it right here in the Military.”

Satellite Communication Systems Specialist >> Bone Marrow Registry Leader

While Chris originally joined the Army as a satellite communication systems specialist, a passion project has allowed him to carve out a new role as leader of the Army’s bone marrow donor program. The idea hit at a rock show, when a quick stop at a sign-up booth changed everything. After outlining his program plan for his company commander, he had their full backing to make it a reality. Now he runs high-speed drives, swabbing and registering entire units in under 30 minutes. His next step: taking the mission base to base and building a ready force of lifesaving matches. For Chris, it’s proof that the Army can open doors to opportunities you’d never expect when you first read the description of your MOS.
